Scaring the hell out of me:

From the Summer 1999 Recess Records tour.

Kid Kevin and Hal

Recess Records Tour, 1999:

Kid Kevin played in a band called Berzerk, from Portland Oregon. Hal was just Hal. But he was more than Hal. More Hal than Hal. It's been a while since I've last spoken to Hal. Maybe sometime before this life runs out.

Flipy and Friend

Recess Records Tour, Summer 1999:

At least it's not a picture of a pool...

Draining

No, this was the pool drain:

But is it art?

Don't answer that.

Friday, February 24, 2012

Poolside

Is draining:

Is that a drain? Or is it that other thing that you can hear the water sloshing around inside? I don't know since I don't have a pool of my own, and didn't grow up in one of those pool houses. Will there be more pool shots to come? I don't know. I do know it's been like bananas over here, even to the point that I barely even have time to develop film. So maybe there will be more pool shots to come. Then again, maybe I'll see what I can do. I'll talk to a man about a horse. A horse that develops film.

Pool Stuff

You know, by the pool:

So what happens if you just put the whole tube of cookie dough in without bothering to break it off into little cookie sized pieces? I think tonight's the night I find out.

One World Trade

Coming along:

Okay, now we're square. Now what the hell do I get for dinner...I'm thinking a ginger ale and a cookie might suffice.

Looming Over the Pool

Is a building:

I like the dude in the pool swimming at us on the lower left.

I owe you a picture. I'll get on that.

Storm's a Brewin'

Up in the sky, where the storms are (wasn't that a Connie Francis song?):

This is truly a momentous occasion. It's the first time Connie Francis has been mentioned on this blog in some 900+ posts. Who knows where this thing may lead!

PS: I didn't forget, I still owe you a picture.

Rooftop Pool Aerobics

Okay, someone's not with the program here:

In another 30 years or so, that'll be me in that pool in the sky finally taking steps towards getting in shape.

PS: I know, I missed a day. I owe you a picture.

Buildings! Modern!

Everywhere you look! Piled on top of another!

Dig that perspective or lack thereof!

Hmm, if I could only remember where I was when I took this photo...

Solitary Building

There it is again, after a long absence from this blog:

Where was I again....

Pool Water

In black and white:

It sure looks cool and summery like that, no?

A Heap of Stuff

In Bushwick:

Yeah, this photo is a heap of something alright...ugh.

Bushwick Building

In Bushwick, Brooklyn:

I'm all out of alliteration for the day.

Pretty impressive, wouldn't you say?

Taken From the High Line

I have no idea what this is:

Like seriously. I don't even know what this is or where exactly I took it, other than it's from the High Line.

Just One of Those Shots

You know?

I mean, it's just one of those shots that I find myself liking, even though I'm not entirely sure what's going on with it. It's like there's all this stuff going on. There's these people walking, there's this chick on the phone, there's these mannequins that I find somewhat arousing...come to think of it, this photo has it all!

We Will Take Our Country Back

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes, I counted. There are 17 exclamation points down there):

Ahh, remember way back in October of 2011 when you'd be standing on the corner minding your own business and then all of a sudden there's like thousands of people walking from downtown to Times Square? And what's up with that, "The people united will never be defeated," chant? It doesn't even rhyme! I'm not sure I could ever put my support behind a movement that cant even get a decent rhyme scheme going.

Guardhouse

It's well guarded, behind all that barbed wire:

Lately I feel like I've got a long way to go and a short time to get there. Maybe one of these years I'll put some meaningful words down around here.

Morgan Avenue Subway Station

On Bogart Street. How that makes any sense I have no idea:

I've been riding the L lately. Also, every time the train goes through the Montrose Avenue station I hear "Bad Motor Scooter" in my head. That's normal, right?

The Streak

What were you expecting, Ray Stevens?

Well, here's that streak I was talking about. Now this film was Verichrome Pan from the 70s, and I used some ratty looking Diafine (5+5) on it. It almost looks like a drip down the side of the film. Now this was developed in an old FR tank, so there was no inverting, just twisting the little knob back and forth to agitate. Of course, I used more than the recommended amount of developer (500ml instead of 475ml), yet still, I got this on several of my negatives. I don't know what this is all about. I didn't have this trouble with another roll of the same film also using Diafine. Or maybe it was the fixer? The stop (which was just water, as per the Diafine recommendation), Maybe a lack of stoppage? It happened on nearly half of the negatives, and sometimes on consecutive shots. Maybe something with the camera (though I haven't had this issue before)?

Hmm....

Gravel Plant II

I told you we'd come back to it!

You see that light band on the left side there? I don't know what that's all about. It turned up on other pics too, and I have a feeling it might have to do with the developing process. I'll post another picture tomorrow which shows it off a bit better and I'll get more into it. Now I have to get back to watching the last episode of the heavy metal documentary on VH1. Prog rock, baby.

Roy's Taxi

In Texas, 1999:

Okay, so maybe we'll have to wait until tomorrow to get back to our Bushwick Business.

Anybody catch Puppy Bowl VIII?

Saturday, February 4, 2012

Redscale Chrysler

Building, that is:

Back to our Bushwick Brooklyn Business tomorrow...

Barbed

Of the wire variety:

In Bushwick, of course. They have a lot of it there, come to think of it.

Gravel Plant Parking Lot

No relation to Heavy Metal Parking Lot:

Have I ever mentioned how much I love the Photoshop clone tool and how it's great for getting rid of dust? Trust me, I spent an hour de-dusting that parking lot with NatGeo on in the background. Yeah, it isn't a full de-dusting, but if I truly had nothing going on in my life, I would have.

Oh, who am I kidding...

Gravel Plant

Not in the botanical sense:

Yeah, I got confused too.
